Work with me

Hire me, bring me a product, or book a talk.

I'm a senior product designer for SaaS, B2B and B2C products, mostly the hard ones: payments, compliance, and platforms with several kinds of user. Pick the way in that fits, or just write and I'll work out which it is.

01 · Hiring for a role

What you'd be hiring.

A senior product designer who works out the structure first and stays until it ships.

  • The why behind the what

I ask the questions nobody thought to ask. Once we know why something happened, we know how to fix it, and what's actually worth building.

  • Structure before screens

I map a product's objects, roles and states before I design a screen, so the edge cases turn up on paper, not in production.

  • Regulated, multi-role products

Payments, identity checks and KYC, and platforms where several roles share one system, like MentorMe's parents, students, tutors and admins.

  • Through to build

I built web platforms before I moved into design, so I stay with engineering until it ships the way it was designed.

  • Teaching

1,000+ designers trained through Women Techsters. I can explain a decision, and help a team make the next one.

02 · A product design project

Products with real complexity underneath.

When it goes wrong, it's almost never because the interface was ugly.

A good fit when

  • Your product has more states than screens, and the states are winning.
  • Compliance shapes the flow and nobody has designed around it properly.
  • Several roles use the same object and mean different things by it.
  • A redesign has been tried before and fell apart at the edge cases.

Probably not when

  • You need a visual refresh and the structure is already sound.
  • The screens are already specified and you need them drawn.
  • There's no time for any discovery at all.

If it's this list, I'll say so straight away, and I'll usually know someone better suited.

How a project starts

  1. You write

A paragraph on the product and what isn't working.

  2. I reply within 48 hours

With questions, or a no and a name.

  3. We agree the problem

On a call, before any scope or price.

03 · A talk or workshop

Talks from work that shipped.

Structure before screens, compliance without a maze, and what designers should do about AI.
