Most design education teaches tools. Very little of it teaches you to explain why you made a choice, which is what you'll be judged on for the rest of your career. That gap is most of what I work on.

How I approach it
I'm not going to tell you it's good.
The most useful thing I can do in an hour is tell you the truth about where your work stands and why. That isn't the same as being harsh. It means being specific enough that you know exactly what to change.
Teaching cohort after cohort showed me the same pattern: the people who improved fastest were the ones asked why most often. So that's what these sessions are. Questions, mostly.
